Over the past few weeks, our teams across Horder Healthcare have been working together to give a new purpose to clinical items that are no longer usable within our hospitals, ensuring they don’t go to waste and instead support healthcare settings across the world and within the UK.
We're pleased to share that we have donated 30 boxes of equipment to Medi Tech Trust, including Prosthesis Consumables (Drapes, Gloves, Syringes, Dressings, etc). As well as 25 boxes of recalled hospital gowns, along with a range of expired items.
All items have now been sorted, repacked and shipped by Medi Tech this week to hospitals and communities in:
- Ukraine
- Congo
- Malawi
These supplies will directly support clinical teams who rely heavily on donated equipment to maintain essential healthcare services.
Local charity Medi Tech Trust is based in Hailsham, East Sussex, dedicated to donating medical equipment and surgical consumables to medical institutions, arranging training courses for surgeons in low income countries, and advancing health care education in the community.
Supporting healthcare workers in Burundi, East Africa
Medi Tech Trust has also shared an exciting new project we will become part of. Donations from Horder Healthcare will soon support Burundi Parables Christian Ministries, run by Bishop Telesphore.
Burundi is a small, land-locked country in East Africa, which has faced severe economic hardship and does struggle with chronic shortages of essential goods.
One of their doctors visited the ministry during a trip a few months ago and saw first‑hand the huge impact additional equipment could make within community health projects and local clinics. A full container of supplies will be sent in March, and Horder Healthcare is committed to supporting them in any way we can. We're sharing a few photos here of the current environment and healthcare setup.
