For surgery, we are able to treat patients who are 18 years of age or older. Patients with the following are not suitable for surgery at The Horder Centre:
- An American Society of Anaesthesiologists (ASA) score higher than 3 (whether stable or unstable)
- An ASA score of 3 that is unstable
- Sleep apnoea/using CPAP
- Myasthenia gravis (inherited muscle weakness disease)
- Malignant hypertension
- Known or anticipated difficult airway
- Sickle cell disease
- Myocardial infarction <6 months
- Cerebrovascular accident <6 months
- Drug eluding stent insertion <12 months ago
- Bare metal stent insertion <6 weeks ago
- Stage 5 chronic kidney disease
- Life threatening/severe latex allergy
- Cardiomyopathy
- Congestive cardiac failure
- Body mass index (BMI) of 40 or above
- Absolute weight of above160kg
- Haemoglobin <10g/dl
- Uncontrolled blood pressure
- Untreated communicable infections
- A history of stage 4 kidney disease with a glomerular filtration rate <30 (will be considered for surgery subject to individual pre-morbidity and general health condition)
For Physiotherapy, we are able to treat both adult and child private patients and NHS patients age 18 and above. Should any clarification be required on the above categories, you can discuss this further with our Hospital Manager.
