How to refer your patient

Patient Choice means that patients have a right to choose where they receive their NHS treatment and includes independent hospitals such as The Horder Centre. Horder Healthcare is a qualified provider and offers NHS services without charge to the patient.

If referred for treatment patients can book online via the NHS e-Referral Service (eRS) using the unique booking reference number (UBRN) provided by their GP. Visit www.nhs.uk to book via eRS. Patients can select a consultant as well as time and date of their appointment. Alternatively, GPs can book appointments on the behalf of the patient in the same way. Upon receiving the electronic referral The Horder Centre will contact the patient directly with details of their appointment.

Depending on the geographical locations of some GP practices, clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) may have appointed a referral triage service to manage all musculoskeletal (MSK) referrals. This does not affect Patient Choice and both GP and patient can make a decision on where and by which surgeon the patient can be treated for surgery. The referral triage service will respect this decision and ensure that it is still the choice of the patient.

Patients can self-pay which means paying for their own procedures, treatments and services themselves following an initial consultation. They will get a tailored, inclusive price for treatment based on their condition. Initial consultation and pre-op diagnostics are not included in the treatment package price. Patients with private medical insurance who would like to choose The Horder Centre for their treatment will need to check with their insurer that they are covered for the treatment they require, including outpatient appointments. We are recognised by the majority of medical insurance companies.
