Knee pain

Knee pain

Our knees are vulnerable to damage as they take all of our body weight and extra force during exercise.

Knee pain will often be present in the front or sides of the joint and can be associated with clicking or “giving way”, swelling and stiffness. This can be caused by a number of things such as damage through sports or degenerative conditions like arthritis.

Horder Healthcare physiotherapists can use the following treatment to help improve knee pain:

Manipulation and mobilisation

These techniques work on specific areas of pain in order to improve movement in the knee and related areas.

Sports Massage and taping

The massage is diagnostic in nature, to feel for strains and help prevent further injury. Sports tape may be applied to the skin to stabilise the muscles and bones to help reduce pain and support function.

Soft tissue massage

This involves manipulation of the muscles, tendons and ligaments to help alleviate pain and discomfort.

Exercise therapy

Your physiotherapist will assess you and then put together a plan of exercises tailored to your needs and condition.  These will be progressed or modified with your needs.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture can provide relief from joint, muscle and chronic pain using an ancient technique.
