Mr Buckle is an Orthopaedic Consultant specialising in hip and knee surgery. His clinical expertise encompasses the management of degenerative hip and knee conditions using modern and minimally invasive techniques. His clinical expertise also involves the management of problematic, painful, and failing hip and knee replacements.
Mr Buckle joined the team in East Sussex following consultant appointments at Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Oxford, and Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals, London. He graduated from St Bartholomew’s and The Royal London School of Medicine in 2009, where he was awarded Proximae Accessit to the University of London Gold Medal. He went onto complete his orthopaedic higher surgical training in London and the South-East of England, undertaking further specialist fellowship training at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Oxford.
Mr Buckle studied and worked as a physiotherapist before embarking upon a career in medicine. The knowledge and skills he gained during this time continue to benefit his clinical practice and has helped him cultivate a holistic, team-based approach to patient care.
His clinical practice comprises a range of hip and knee surgeries. This includes total and partial joint replacements, re-do (revision) surgeries for painful, problematic or infected joint replacements and joint preservation surgery. Mr Buckle is the Clinical Lead for the hip fracture service in East Sussex. In addition, he is part of the team providing specialist management for fractures around joint replacements. He is the Clinical Lead for revision knee arthroplasty in East Sussex and is involved in the establishment of regional networks for revision knee replacement surgery.
Mr Buckle was awarded a master’s degree from the University of Oxford in the field of musculoskeletal science. He has an active research portfolio and is currently principal investigator on multiple national research studies relating to hip and knee surgery. He also mentors and trains registrar level surgeons on the Kent, Surrey and Sussex training programme.
